So, who doesn't love Betsey Johnson ? She is soooooooooo amazing. I like her use of bright colors and exotic fabrics. I especially love her jewelry and handbags. I recently purchased a Betsey Johnson necklace for my daughter at Macy's in San Francisco. She adores it. I have been so inspired by this necklace. I thought that a Betsey Johnson inspired manicure would be really cute.

Thumb:I love Betsey nail ..I used China Galze's Liquid Leather & White on White. The Heart was painted using Pink Pearl by Entity. Index Finger: I used China Glaze's Liquid Leather on the nail plate and Classic Camel ( one of my new favorite colors)

for the heart. I used rhinestones on the heart as well ( B.J loves her bling). Middle Finger: I used China Glazes Liquid Leather and Pink Pearl by Entity for the Big Pink Lips. Ring Finger: I used Pink Pearl on the nail plate, black stripe rite and Spontaneous by China Glaze for the funky leopard print. I used Spontaneous again on the nail plate of the pinkie and the black Stripe Rite for the zebra printed nail.

Dia de los Muertos

November 2nd is the Day of Dead a holiday is typically celebrated in Mexico or by Mexican Americans in the US. The holiday focuses on friends and family members who have passed. Typically, the family will construct an alter with pictures of their loved one. The alter will also include things that the person liked such as beer or a picture of their favorite pet. I painted these nails to honor my favorite Mexican artist Frida Kahlo who died in 1954.

This mani looks so much better in person. The base color a bright neon PINK called Pool Party by China Glaze. The color is amazing. I am going to add it to my list of cool colors. I used stripe rite black, white and for the eyes.

Why does my thumb color looks ?

Its Shellac!!!!

The other day, I painted my thumb with Shellac by Creative Nail Design. Shellac is a UV color coat the company says will last at least 14 days without chipping! Shellac has no drying time and is supper shinny. I been seeing Shellac ads in the Nail Magazines for a while. I've had a hard time getting my hands on the stuff due to the high demand for the product. I know a lot of do-it-yourselves have stopped going to the salon but, this may be the reason to find your way back. I am going to do a detailed post soon but, until then if you want to learn more about Shellac you can check out the CND website. FYI, I painted the eye balls on top of my Shellac. I removed the eyeballs and the Shellac Gel coat is still as nice and shinny as the day I put it on ( so cool).

......I spent the afternoon sitting under a tree, channeling the Aztec in me....

The truth is; some of friends say my nails look "kiddie". They dont see themselves ( or dont want to see themselves) with little animals on their nails. Although, they are aware that celebs Katy Perry , Monica & The Atlanta Housewives are rock some of the hottest nail styles they cant imagine themselves wearing these looks. They are always asking me to do their kids nails but wont consider the designs on their own nails. I want to change that. So, now that I am in the process of opening a nail salon, I want to make sure that my designs will appeal to everyone. I painted these nails last night and will test them when im out today. I am going to flash them around town and see what kind of comments I get. I'll keep you updated.

celebrity children. But, did you know that Willow is also a nail diva. You may have seen Willow on t.v recently promoting her new song "Whip My Hair" ( cute song) But, did you check out her NAILS?

The only picture I was able to snag from the Internet was the one pictured above. Willow, we love nail art and want to see a better picture of those nails. I cant wait to see more from this young trendsetter . Whip your hair and those nails girl!

Callus Exfoliating Foot Cream by Woodward's

Review

I received several products by from a PR representative to review.

The box was filled with products from Mycocde. One of the products was called Mycocide NS Antifungal Treatment kit. My father took one look at the box and ran away with it ( i didnt ask). But, prior to receiving the treatment he kept complaining about his toes..I haven't heard anything from him since. I would consider that a thumbs up ( i guess) . I also received the Mycocide nail whitener which I decided not to try because, the last time I tried a nail whitener it made my nails really weak and the product ( not by Mycocide) also smelled like bleach. I didn't want to take that chance. If you are like me and paint your nails all the time the best ways to prevent your nails for staining is the proactive way use..BASE COAT!

Finally, I DID use the Callus Exfoliating Foot Cream. It worked just as described. I used the product daily for two weeks. I don't have really callused feet but, after wearing flip flops all summer this is the best time of year to give you feet some extra TLC. I liked that the cream is exfoliating, I could feel may callused skin washing away ( I am addicted to anything with exfoliation). I liked the cute little foot file that came in the box. I didnt have to search around my house looking for one ( that's a plus). Overall, I liked the Exfoliating foot cream .

I already have a few friends who will be getting an extra treat in their holiday stocking.... ( their feet will thank me!)

I painted the nails with China Glaze nail polish. I regularly use China Glaze because the price is reasonable and they have a good range of colors. The Nail base color is Shower Together. The frog's face is Entourage. I used Rich and Famous for the cheeks. I used a dotting tool for the dots on the nails.

I like to use Entity nail polish for nail art because the brushes are small. My nails are so short that its very hard to paint them right now. Entity is not the most creative when it comes to naming their polishes but the colors are fantastic. The color you see on the bottel is the same color on your nails. I used red, green,purple and blue all from the pearl collection.

This past Sunday, I attended NailPro 2009 in Sacramento, CA. The yearly event gives professional manicurist and cosmologist the opportunity to see the latest techniques , view demos and take classes. This is the first time I attended this event so, it was as if I was a kid in a candy store. I wanted more and more candy!

The first 500 attendees received a gift that included some really cool samples. This post is about the samples that were in the Gift Bag. The bag itself was a cute pink bag made out of recycled material. The only thing the bag was missing was glitter ( all princess love glitter).

The Entity Spring-Summer collection of nail polishes are all pearlized. The nail polish bottles are so cute and colorful , I may attach a string to each one and use them for christmas ornaments (there are so many uses for nail polish). The perfect size of the brush makes application effortless and the color was true to the bottle (two coats of polish was applied) .

The Princess of Polish...Reviews: Press-On nails by Kiss

The Princesses nails needed a little break, so she pulled out her press-ons for goodness sake!

Press-On Nails...humm...Are people really wearing press-on nails? That's the question I asked myself as I reviewed the boxes of press-on nails that I received to re-view for this blog.

a little background......

A few weeks ago, my daughter when my daughter and I went to CVS Pharmacy she, was drawn to the many boxes of press-on nails. My daughter really liked the nail designs and wanted me to pick up a few boxes. Although, I agreed with her that the designs were really cool I ha d a few reservations. I remember trying press-on nails as a teenager and the always looked over sized and bulky. The nails never seemed to look right. I grabbed a few boxes at the bequest of my daughter but, ultimately put the boxes back before leaving the store.

Fast forward to today......

This past weekend the girls and I had the opportunity to try out a few of the nail kits. The first box we tried was Express-On nails by Kiss, natural nail style. The nails were short in length with stick-on application ( no glue needed/ 1 day wear). The package contained 24 nails in 10 sizes. My daughter applied a full-set in less than 15 minutes. The nails really looked good! The application was quick and easy and the nails fit perfectly. In my opinion, the nails almost as good as an acrylic set. My daughter was able to easily remove the nails by soaking them in warm water.

Wow! The nails really look good.

The second box we tried was Everlasting French by Kiss. The nails we real short length with glue -on application ( glue need/ 7 day wear). The package contained 24 regular nails in 12 sizes. The Everlasting French application took about 25 minutes. My daughter took a little longer with this application because it required the use of glue. The Express-On nails looked good but the Everlasting nails looked GREAT!

Salon Style nails at home

In our opinion both nails kits did exactly what they promised. The Express-on nails were easy to apply and looked really good. The Express-on nails are perfect if you don't have time to go to the Salon but, would like a temporary salon nail look . My daughter and I liked to the look of the Everlasting French nails a little better. The fit was tighter and the color just right. Keep in mind, when applying the Everlasting French with the glue-on application make sure to saturate the nail with the glue and press down evenly or the glue will show through the nails.

Press-on nails tips & ideas:

Tip: apply non-acetone remover or alcohol after applying the nails will keep them looking new

Good Idea: My girls are hosting a holiday party and we were going to leave to have a nail polish bar. After trying the Kiss press-on nails she suggested that we have a "press-on" nail bar. I think that a better idea and we wont have to worry about spilling nail polish ( we know how polish can stain) .

So, to answer my initial question ...YES! people are wearing press-on nails and the look Great!

Dashing Diva Nail Polish

In September, Dashing Diva added 5 new colors to its New York-inspired Manhattan Collection of nail polishes. The new and improved polish promises to be longer lasting and more chip resident than there previous blends. I recently received a few samples for review.....

Bryant Park: Super Seductive , Bryant Parks light brown copper color may be the toast of Manhattan but, its also made a royal fan on the west coast.

Grand Central Station: A deep green color that, reminded me of my Christmas tree. The color was so rich, I was tempted to take a peek on the bottle to see if they stuffed my Christmas tree from last year inside. I know what color I'm wearing for Thanksgiving, all I need is a outfit!

Jazz Nights: Jazz Nights, is my overall favorite . In the bottle, the ruby red polish steeped in ultra thin sparkling glitter look good but, on your nails the polish looks a-m-a-z-i-n-g! Try This: I painted Jazz Nights over Bryant Park for a sparking candy apple look that was incredible.

The Royal Review:
Packaging : I really liked the Dashing Diva logo. The logo , gives an ordinary nail polish bottle an sleek and updated look, joining together pink hand to make a flower (very cute)
note: I don't normally review nail polish bottles but, in several of my post I've remarked that I have not purchased a particular nail polish because i did not like the way the bottle looked. So, i thought I'd mention it.
The Brush: The brush was average length and flexible, making for easy application.
Price: Dashing Diva, nail polish retails for $8.00, which places it in the affordable range.

Overall opinion : The polishes I tired from the Dashing Diva Manhattan Collection was good. The way the nail polish looked in the bottle represented the actual color on my nails ( don't you hate when the color in the bottle looks different on your nails) . I would be comfortable ordering online because I know that I would get the true color ( very important). I applied the polish to my nails in the morning with no top coat . The colors lasted all day with no chipping ( I guess the new formulation worked). Dashing Diva, nail polish will be added to my holiday wish list. When I was around 8 my BFF's mom used to make Strawberry Quick for us to drink during on Saturday night slumber parties. For those of you who don't know what Strawberry Quick is , its a power that you add to milk so it will look pink and taste like strawberries. This manicure is dedicated to Strawberry Quick and good childhood memories.....those were the days!

O.P.I Nail Lacquer Review:

I recently purchased this O.P.I nail lacquer at my local nail supply store. The color is called "Do you lilac it?". I li-loved it! I painted two light coats of the lacquer with ease using the wide full nail brush that comes with the polish. Some polishes have brushes that are so stiff its hard to apply, not the case with O.P.I. The full size brush allowed maxim coverage in minimum time. The polish applied evenly and dried quickly. In The Princess Book of Everything , O.P.I's is defiantly an winner in nail lacquer and zebra color !

On Sunday November 15,2009, NAILPRO is coming to the Sacramento California Convention Center (hip , hip hooray!). NAILPRO, is a yearly event that gives professional manicurist and cosmetologist the opportunity view the lasted trends and techniques in the Industry.

So Easy : strip rite (black ) and Wet and Wild Glitter. Note: This design requires a lot of polish layering so, if you want to try this design make sure you have plenty of drying time between layers.....The Princess

The Remix: I painted the nails again with dots and glitter. These colors look great in the sun. I think that would make a great pedicure. If I can ever drag The Little Princess always from her DS or Wii I'm going to try this one on her!

I have always loved Koala's and decided to take an online trip to the zoo ( what did we do before *Al Gore invented the Internet ?). I learned so much about Koala's.

A baby Koala is called a Joey, so I named my bear Joey too. The Koala is a Marsupial and in native to Australia. For more information about Koala's visit the San Diego Zoo's website .

I painted this cute little back cat to celebrate Halloween. I used China Glaze nail polish ( what's new).

Black Diamond: its a black gray looking color with sparkining highlights. I really love this color. Entourage: Very pretty great apple looking color with the same sparkinging highlights as Black Diamond. I also used white on white and black leather.

China Glaze Matte Magic: Top Coat

I'm currently giving away a few bottles of this polish so, I wanted to post a some samples....

I wanted to post a few samples of China Glazes's Matte Magic so, you guys could see why I like it so much. I painted the nail tips using Black Diamond , by China Glaze. Black Diamond, is a soft mixture of gray and back polish with delicate blue sliver glitters. Then ,I used a nail brush and painted strips , swirls and dots. This is what I would call a surprise mani, like the toy inside the cracker jax box. From far away it looks like a regular mani but, when you take a closer look SURPRISE! China Glaze , has not cornered the market on matte top coat it just happens to be the one I like.

The Princess is BACK

I'm BACK!!!!

I've wished and prayed for this day to arrive. The Princess is back and the kingdom has survived!

I am so excited NEW COMPUTER, NEW CAMERA, and TONS ( I don't think you heard me ) I said TONS of new ideas!! I want to THANK (Thank you x1000) everyone who was thinking of me when I was away, but I've returned and now I'm hear to stay with the help of the top notch security system I had installed ( clapping ) . Ive been on Internet withdrawal (nothing nice) and was only able to read bits and pieces on my favorite blogs between breaks at work and occasionally at my parents house ( it was ugly). I don't know if i'll be sleeping , I have so much to catch up on. One thing I did realize is that I was tired of the look of my blog so, I updated the page . I hope you guys like it ( lmk). I was surprised to see that I have some new followers and I haven't even been .....WELCOME! I cant wait to check out your pages.

I think this comment to my Minx post was phenomenal. How many companies take time to respond to a customer in the manner, not many. Much appreciation and respect to Janice Jordan. I hope to be this responsive to customers / clients when I open my salon ( note to self).
I didn't learn about Minx when I went to school to become a manicurist ( weird , I though nail school taught you everything...lol) . I was introduced to Minx by a friend when she showed me a picture of Beyonce sporting the silver nails. I took out a few of my trade magazine and read some articles about nails and application process. I found out about them on Monday and by Friday I was ordering a kit. I was just that intrigued!
I am so excited and cant wait to see the upcoming 2010 developments from Minx . I will keep you all posted.

The Princes of Polish...Down but not out!

Down but not out......

On Tusday, I came home form a long day at work to find my front door kicked in and all my belongings gone. Im hartbroken. Per my pervious post my camera was broken but, now honey is with the bad guys. If you read my post about the DS I recently purchase for the little princess .....gone. My Flat screen TV's, Sony Vizo Laptop, Video Camera , jewelry, handbags etc..all gone. Upset is an understatement!

All my nail art, business plans and pictures were on my laptop. Gone. All the pictures Ive painted in the past 3 years.......I feel so sad and violated. I was just starting to wet my feet in the world of blogs. I was having so much fun! They even stole my fun.

I purchased a new front door, and I'm putting an alarm system in Monday. Hopefully, I'll be up and again soon. I am gonna continue to read everyone's blogs , and hope to post again soon.....Down but no OUT!

Most of us seen MINX on tons of Celebrities nails and from what Ive heard the consensus seems to be that most people think they look really cool. MINX nails are definitely one of the hottest trends in the nail industry in the past year. I've worn MINX around town and believe me , they are real conversation starters. MINX are Bright , Flashy and Shinny and there are a lot of people that have not idea what they are .

Well, if your not up on MINX yet here is the deal MINX are made of a thin plastic film that when heated, the film affixes to your nails. They look hot! The come in a range of styles and patterns. Some salons even have the ability to personalize the MINX and use your own pictures ( cool huh). MINX nails are available at your local nail salons and can range form $35.00 to $65.00. If you go to the MINX website they have a list of salons that offer MINX. For those of use who have a passion for doing our own nails MINX would be a nice fun treat .

Just a note to the MINX company, it would be really nice if you offered more training classes. I like MINX but, I an independent nail artist with tons of ideas. If you order a MINX kit you do get access to an online tutorial video. I am a visual person who has lost of questions and I need more. Ive heard that the nails should last a month but, can only get them to look good without lifting for a week. Ive contacted MINX about training and was advised to read some other blogs for more help (huh) . I use MINX on myself and friends but,would NOT offer this to my clients with out more formal training.

I tried to write a poem but nothing came out, The princess of polish all week she did pout! This is what happened to Honey ( camera's name)....

The Young Princess asked me to use my camera. I said yes, she took the camera to school. I received and text message around 10:00am that morning . Sorry, mom I dropped Honey and its broken....I'll buy you another one....sorry. AWWWWWWWWHHHHHHH! I looked for a new camera all week and weekend. I couldn't find a replacement for Honey. I want my Honey back ! I pulled out my old camera and the pictures suck. I cant use those ugly pictures. UGH, I need a new Honey. Any Suggestions?

Goldfish : Nail Tutorial

China Glaze Polish

Blue: Sky High -Top

Yellow: Solar Power

White: White on White

Step 1: My nails have been primed with base coat and painted with the blue background color.

Step 2: Using the yellow polish, I painted a half circle around the edge of the nail.

Step 3: Using the dotting tool ,apply two drops of yellow polish to the top of the half circle.

Step 4:Using the large dotting tool apply one drop of white polish for the eyes. Using the small dotting tool apply white dots to the background.

Step5: Using the small dotting tool apply black on the white dot for the eyeball.

Step 6: Using the stripe brush outline the goldfish and draw a smile line for the mouth. Clean edges of nails , apply cuticle oil and top coat.

Recommendations: The goldfish nails require a lot of nail polish. I recommend allowing extra drying time and/or using a nail dryer. If you don't have a nail dryer you can use a hair dryer on an air setting. You can add a fun dotted nail (as pictured) . I think this would be cute if you did the fish in different colors or if you added rhinestones to the eyes. Sometimes, I paint glitter on the designs but, sometimes glitter interferes with the nail design. The choice is yours....Be creative and have fun! Please let me know if you were able to create this design. I would love to see it.
note: This is my first tutorial , if you have any suggestions please let me know.

The Princess of Polish...Sweet Hand Treats!

The Princess has been polishing for days on end, now its time to treat her ten friends...

I have been polishing my nails everyday for a month and fingers and nails need a little TLC. The girls (my fingers) and I went into the kitchen to mix up a few of my favorites.

Part 1.
Sweet Sugar Hand Scrub
Ingredients :
4 spoons of sugar
3 spoons of olive oil ( or baby oil)
Combine sugar and oil and mix into a paste. Run hands under warm (not hot) water . Using the scrub that you have just make rub all over your hands for 2-4 minutes. Rinse and pat dry with towel. Make sure all sugar been washed off.
Part 2.
Sweet Treat and Hand Spa
Ingredients:
1/4 cup lotion
4 spoons olive oil
In a finger bowl , Pour about 1/4 cup of your favorite lotion into a bowl. Add 4 spoons of olive oil. Microwave for 10 seconds ONLY (CAUTION: lotion will get hot in the microwave very quickly). Test lotion to make sure its not to hot. Place hands in finger bowl and soak for 2-5 minutes. Rub lotion into hand. Your hands and nails will feel great!

I was in the garden at the Queens house tending my strawberry plant. I planted it a few years ago in HER garden because, I cant seem to remember things like plants need water. Dear Friends,
First of all, I would like to THANK everyone for reading and or viewing my blog. I really love to hear all you comments, questions and advice. I also love viewing and reading all the other nail blogs. Everyone is so creative and talented,I am learning so much and having so much fun.

Today, I wanted to review a few items that are on my recently purchase list. These are things, that I The Princess of Polish had to have......

I went to Marshall's with the Queen today. I saw this gorgeous cake plate, it was shinny and silver. I must have it.! I took the cake plate home and placed my China Glaze polishes on top of the plate, because China Glaze polishes belong on a pedestal.

I made my regular stop at Sally's over the weekend and purchased 10 China Glaze polishes ( I should buy some stock in that company). I had to have them! You can never have to many polishes.

...I've painted watermelons so many times but, I wanted to try something new....Sometimes you should just stick with what you know......

...

I had an idea to paint three blind mice with cheese....The paint job was so sloppy the cheese does not look like cheese. The black tips are not straight...I still like the idea but, I'm gonna need to work on this a little more ........

.....I love eggs and eat them daily.....Silly of me to think they would look cute on nails....bad idea..very bad.....

The moral of the story is...

Sometimes, good ideas go bad....but, never stop trying .

The Princess had a party, she wanted to cut loose.

She went to the pond , to play duck, duck goose.

I went to a pool party this weekend and thought ducks would be really cute. The toes were not hard to do but, it was a little awkward painting them myself. The pedicure did not look that great, but hopefully you can get the idea. I think my fingernails came out a lot better. I added the glasses to the duck on my

thumb as an afterthought.

The Princess of Polish ..Pedicuring 101

Pedicuring 101 for me and you.

The Perfect Princess Pedicure

Tools: Here is a list of the things I like to use for my personal pedicure. You may opt to use some items ,all of the items or nothing . You may know something about pedicures that don't or disagree with something I wrote. I am learning and would love your comments and suggestions or advise . The important things is that you safely take care of your feet and in return your feet will take care of U.
Polish Remover: You can use any nail polish remover. Most articles that I've read state the you should use non-acetone polish remover. I disagree. I use ACETONE, ( yeah, I said it ) acetone polish remover by Beauty Secrets. Personally, I think it works better and I like to remove my polish quickly.

Cotton Balls: I use regular cotton balls. I don't use extra large of fluffy. I don't need coco butter added cotton balls, I just want regular old fashioned cotton balls. I accidentally bought some extra large cotton balls from Sally's last week and I have to literally cut them in half each time I need to use one ! I will buy pink cotton balls occasionally... ( well, I am a princess after all). Toe Nail Clipper : I am always buying a toenail clipper. I am not particular to any brand in particular. I never use a nail clippers, even on my hands. They are just to small and I'm afraid of them.Cuticle Remover: I like jell cuticle remover. I recently picked up a bottle of Cuticle Away y by CND. I really love it. If you use cuticle remover, be sure to use sparingly and wash it off COMPLETELY once you have pushed back your cuticles .
Nail Brush : I always brush my nails with a nail brush. I usually buy a new one once a month. I keep a nail bush in the bathroom and when I wash my hand I bush my nails ( if they are not polished, of course) .
Nail Pusher : There are several types on nail pushers on the market. I like metal pushers . I don't push with a orange wood stick because , I think it will give me splinters. I don't know the brand of my pusher but, the end that's used for pushing is rounded to fit the nail. I suggest trying several pushers until you find the one you like.
Moisturizing Lotion: A good moisturizing lotion is really important, I suggest going to sally's and looking for something just for pedicures. It really really makes a difference.
Tub: I don't like to use a fancy pedicure tub . I use a regular tub that I bought from target for about $3.00 .
Sea Salt: This is optional but, it Sea Salt helps to relive tired and ache feet.
Liquid Soap: You can use any type of soap . I uses antibacterial soft soap. Vanilla scent.
Nail Buffer: Select your favorite Nail buffer. I Like the white ice block. Sally's
Towel: Now, here is where I like a nice fluffy towel to wrap my feet up with
Emery Board: no explanation needed
Olive Oil: I like olive oil ( any brand) but, baby oil will work just as good. Please don't use cooking oil ( I just think that's gross)
Toe Separator : Sometime , I splurge and buy two separators with glitter or funky shapes. I don't really understand it but I love those things.
Flip Flops: I usually buy some cute pink flip flops because , I cant stand the thing that goes between your toes and a cute pair takes my mind off the pain.

The Pedicure
Step One: Take the pedicure tub then add approximately 1/4 sea salt and 5 squirts of liquid soap and a cap full of Olive Oil. Fill tub with warm water and soak for 5 minutes. Dry feet lightly.
Step Two: Take the polish remover and cotton balls and remove the polish ( if needed). I like to remove the polish after the 1st soak. The polish comes off a lot easier that way. Clip & file toenails if needed.
Step Three: Place feet back in the water for 1-2 minutes. Remove one foot apply cuticle remover, lightly push cuticles , never clip you own cuticles, place foot back in water and repeat on other foot.
Step four: I typically use a sugar scrub but ,you can use any kind of foot scrub and scrub both feet . Take nail brush and brush both feet thoroughly. Remove feet from water.
Step Five:Lotion and rub your feet. You can use any lotion however, I use pedicure or massage lotion. I went to a nail salon the other day and they used some smell good foo foo lotion that went dry and was not comfortable during the massage (just a suggestion). Apply cuticle oil to your cuticles.
Now, your feet are ready for polishing. Put on your flip flops and toe separator before polishing. Doing a pedicure on yourself is fun but, it also requires time. If you have some pedicure tips , please share...

Today is MALL MONDAY, sometimes on Mondays when I get off work I go to the mall and act as if its Saturday or Sunday( i know its crazy) .Today happened to be really hot so, lot of girls had there toes out. I am always looking at feet and nails to see if I can see something new or get some inspiration. I saw so many "jacked up toes" . Now, you don't have to have a pedicure with fancy polish but, please dont where sandals or flip flip if your polish is chipped and you nails are jagged. Please put lotion on your skankles ( short for stinky,ugly heels and ankles) . I have decided to dedicate the next few entries to Pedicures and how to give your feet the princess touch ( Not this entry ...starting with the next entry...I am still having a cow on this one ;).

The Princesses Pink & White Twist : Nail Art

The Princess was up late one night ,
She wanted to paint Pink & Whites,
and when she was done, with all of the fun ,
Her Pink & White with a Twist ....Out of Sight!

I was looking at a nail book and saw a similar design to this one. I really got inspired. I wanted to put my "twist" on the nails. I used CHINA GLAZE Black Leather, Shocking Pink & White on White (I'm going to buy another brand of polish at some point). I could not get a good picture of these nails, they look much better in person. I like them because the tip could be any color that you want. I would have showed this design with different tips colors but, I think I'm gonna wear this design to work on Monday!

I wanted to go to the park today but, it was cold outside. So, I packed up my polish and went to my parents house. I sat outside in the garden with The Queen ( my mom) and watched why did I get married by Tyler Perry . Its the Queens current favorite movie so, in the past month we've watched in TEN TIMES. As, I sat in the garden watching the clouds. I painted these nails.

some of my obsessions:

pink, glitter, sparkles , gold , silver, girly, shiny ( I can go on forever, but there is a point here)...

Today, I went to toys r us . I was looking for something for my daughter ( the princess in training) , when I saw something cool out of the corner of my eye. I saw the most amazing "beauty suitcase"by BRATZ. The outside of the case is shiny black vinyl. The suitcase has the word BRATZ spelled out in diamonds ( so cute) with stars and gold chains. Before ,I knew it all 4 of the beauty suitcases that they had left were in my basket and I was heading for the cash register. The beauty suitcase's regular price was $39.99 but these were $19.99 ( clearance, score again) . I paid, I left , I am broke but , I was able to get everything on my OCP list.

P.S. As for the Princess in Training , I promised her that I'll buy her a Nintendo DS on Saturday but ,only if she promised not to touch my Bratz Beauty Suitcase ( pinkie swear!)

The Princess of Polish...Strawberry Nail Art

The princess wanted something sweet , she went to garden for a strawberry treat. When she was finished , when she was done. She had eaten all the strawberries, all except ONE!...........

I used CHINA GLAZE's Rose among thorns ( I know, I really need to venture out to some other brands) to paint the cute little strawberries. I used a green stripe rite for the stem . I used some glitter polish only on the strawberries ( hard to see.....looks like sugar) and painted the nail bed with clear polish by she. Sweet!

I am always thinking about my Nail Salon to-be ( call it out , make it happen) in one way or the other . Today, my thoughts were on the walls. I am not sure if I am going to have original art on the walls , prints or photographs. But, today I felt like painting.

I painted this picture called "She wanted them all" because, it reminds me of my fellow bloggers. The picture depicts a girl who was so excited about the nail polishes that, she bought all of colors the store had ( sound familiar? ) . She has on a necklace that says "nails" and would paint her lips with the thick lacquer if she could. The mail color of the piece is lavender and off white , her lips are pink ( I cant seem to get good pictures) . I painted the picture using acrylic paint on wrapped canvas. The picture and 18x24 inches. I am going to sell it on Ebay once I have time to list it. I think it came out pretty good ( if I do say so myself)...let me know what you think.

I still had out my CHINA GLAZE black and white nail polishes so, I decided to paint these little doggies , aren't they adorable? Its funny , because last Sunday when I had my INTERVIEW ( I think I was traumatized). One of the manicurist asked " Can you do nail art?" I answered "I guess! it all depends on what type of nail art your talking about"...then I laughed myself....she has NO idea.

The Princess Loves Checkers

Today inside of The Manicurist Mansion the Princess played checkers,there was nothing else happen!

The other day ,while on YOUTUBE I saw several tutorials of girls painting checkerboard nails. I thought they looked very cool. They used various tools ranging from stripe brushes to sharpie type pens. I wounded how they would look if I did them. I used (take a wild guess ) CHINA GLAZE nail polish white on white and liquid leather . I used a black so easy stripe rite. I couldn't keep my hands off the dotting tool so, I painted one nail with poka-dots.

The Princess, The Resume and The Interview....

Today , I went to my 1st professional interview . I want to open a salon for children. So, when I happened across this opportunity I wanted to take it BUT, I was afraid and had been wavering ever since I set up the interview. I told my friends, family, co-workers and fellow bloggers about this opportunity and everyone was so encouraging ( much appreciated). I was still wavering but, was definitely leaning more to going than not. Today,I woke up and turned on Joel Osten (tv evangelist, spokesmodel for the lord, motivational speaker, etc.) he said something like this..."if your going to a job interview and you don't think you have the talent, they wont like you , you wont get the job ...stop speaking doubt" Stop, the bus! Joel was speaking to me again. I got ready for my interview and left. I am GOING to get this job.
The Interview : The did not want to do a verbal interview , they wanted me to preform a water manicure , easy enough, so I thought.
Sticky Note: what you learn in school is not how its done in the real world.
The Manicure : The salon employee took me to the back and showed me how to set-up for the client. I was told to fill a glass bowl with water , glass stones, and some small toys (easy enough) . I took the bowl out to the client and started the manicure. I asked the manicurist where to wash the client hands and she said because they were kids I don't need to do that (huh, um ...ok whatever).
As I preformed the manicure the salon employee did not take her eyes off me. I felt like I was on an Episode of Split Ends. It was really funny. The employee said the children's manicures should only take 10 minutes ( that's not much time) I think I took 35 minutes. I cleaned up my station , cleaned my implements and asked for a business flyer ( they were all out). The receptionist asked me how much I wanted to get paid ( I have NO idea) and she said they will call me.
My thoughts about the Interview....
If this was my salon , I would have actually interviewed the potential employee 1st. I would have taken the person on a tour and described what goes on , how its done and what's expected. I would have asked the prospective employee to provide a standard manicure and not "our way" until hired. I would have asked to see a copy of the license. All in all , the place was decorated really cute and the staff was very friendly. I was not overwhelmingly impressed with then nor do I think they were with me. It was an eyeopening experience and even if I don't get the job I can say I honestly tried my best.
What do you think, are they going to call me?

To INTERVIEW or NOT INTERVIEW ..that is the question???

The other day, I was at work looking on craigslist. The company I work for has banned all Internet access except .org's so, at work i have to get in where I can fit in, and craigslist has become very popular with ME. I always look at real estate because I want to open my own salon. I'm obsessive. I feel like if I don't check it daily I am going to miss the NEW BUILDING, GREAT LOCATION , FREE RENT POST that someone is going to list if I don't check. Next, I look at salon merchandise for sale and job opportunities. Last week while I was scrolling through the job opportunities and ran across a listing for a Party Place & Salon for Kids (OMG). They were looking for a manicurist cosmetologist . They don't do acrylics at all but, you MUST have to work weekends ( could it get any better ...I want to open a kids salon and can ONLY work weekend. I ran home and called . The call went something like this....
Salon Employee: Hello, blah,blah,blah salon, I'm the really stupid girl who answers the phone how can I help U?
The Princess: Good afternoon, I was saw you add on craigslist...it was about a month old but, I wanted to know if you were still hiring... a manicurist ( oh yeah, i forget to say the listing was almost a month old , and I am really rusty when it comes to speaking with a potential employer).
Salon Employee said : What ( in that silly California valley girl tone that made the would what last for 3 minutes) Huh?
The Princess said :( breathing right now)
Salon Employee said : Oh, you mean..work here? Oh. I dont think so but, I can take your name and give the manager your number.
Question? Would you have given this girl your name or number?

The Princess said : I don't have a phone, ill call back ...I hung up
The Princess said to herself: I guess it was not meant to be.
Long story short....

I called back on Thursday and I have a interview on Sunday (THIS SUNDAY , SHUT UP!) . They said I will need to preform a Mani/Pedi on someone ( I hope its not the girl I hung up on) I hate test and interviews. At first, I was really excites but, now I don't know if I am going to go to the interview. I am to afraid. I been praying about it since Thursday but, I'm just not sure If I'm going to make it or not. I wish an episode of Tabitha's Salon Takeover or Peter Perfect was on so I could get my mind off this interview. .........this is all to much to think about for a PRINCESS!

The Princess and The Pink Ladybug: Nail Art

I love pink ( what princess doesn't )! I decided to paint ladybugs but, wanted to put my own twist on them, so I used pink voltage by China Glaze ( what's new). I thinks kids and adults would love this mani. I know when I go out people are always stopping me and telling me how cool they look. I am a licensed manicurist and while I love acrylics, I enjoy working more with natural nails. A lot of people think they only way to decorate their nails are with acrylics but , I believe you can have really cute natural nails.

I think it would have been really cool to paint a bee hive on my thumb but, I didn't think of it until I was done and there was NO WAY that I was going to repaint theses nails ( not even the thumb). The yellow is two coats of CHINA GALZE's solar power. I cant say that CHINA GLAZE is my favorite but , Sally's had a buy 2 get 1 free sale last month and I bought every color they had. I am going to be painting with CHINA GLAZE until the bottles are empty!

Totally off the subject: I just watched The Toya & Tinny or Tinny & Toya the new BFF show. Tinny wants to open a Salon , so I think im gonna keep watching just to see how that plays out. Question? Toya and Tinny or Frankie and Neffe?

I wanted to share my number one , all time favorite TOPCOAT. I always use basecoat and topcoat when polishing my nails. I will talk about basescoat another day. I absolutely love Poshe,its the best topcoat ive found so far. Ive tried tons of clear polish ........out of the door, gelous and lots of others. I like Poshe because it dries really quick and shinny. My nails never chip. The bush is long and soft, which makes it easy to spread the polish evenly. So,if you are looking for a basecoat...The survey says that princesses prefer POSHE!

The Manicurist Mansion was empty today ...so, I decided to take advantage of this rare occasion to partake in some RETAIL THERAPY!

I went to the nail supply store and purchased some dotting tools by Daniel Stone. Dotting tools are used to create perfect and accurate dots in different sizes.The package includes five dotting tolls in 10 various sizes. I paid $7.99 for the the package. I think the price was great compared to the prices I've seen at Sally's. OMG,I was really impressed ... I love simple pleasures. I think I've have a chocolate covered strawberry.

Now, what do I paint?

This past Friday I went to Discovery Kingdom, Vallejo CA. and was amazed by the Butterfly exhibit. I was so inspired by the butterflies that I decided to paint them with my new dotting tools. If I was going to wear theses nails I would have used a clear top coat.

Introducing, The Princess of Polish....

I'm sorry! How rude? Definitely not befitting of a Princess...I forgot to introduce myself. Hello, I'm the self proclaimed Princess of Polish. I am always ranting about something or the other so, I decided to pour a glass of wine ( White Zinfandel), take off my Terra and create this blog.

I love nails and nail art , makeup and fashion, jewelry, books,chandlers and gossip ( I think my list is out of order) I am princess can you blame me ? I'm also an artist and at some point I am going to post some of my painting, but for now I am going to paint my nails, and rant and have so fun!

The Princess of Polish, is also a mobile nail salon. Occasionally, I will post pictures from the "Polish Parties". The Princess of Polish offers all complete party package or "Polish Only" style parties as well. I will also add Polish Party information to this blog as well.

Puppy Luv Nail Art

I saw the cutest dog today, it was white with black ears. I was inspired to paint these nails. The red background is a color from FINGER PAINTS called ( i dont recall, i need to look that up) . I love Finger Paints because, I can use one coat and the color is very vibrant. I painted the tips using my favorite CHINA GLAZE polish, liquid leather.

I painted a puppy on 3 nails, a paw on one and assorted dots on another .

Zebra Nails w/ french tips
I know Zebra nails have been done but, I really wanted to put my spin on them. I typically , do the stripes in another direction. I have this really nice zebra chair and the strips are drawn this way. I think these nails look great with any french style tip . In this photo I used CHINA GLAZE, Turn up the Turquoise for the tips.

This is a picture of the Zebra Nails on my daughter. I usually paint them in this direction. She loved them....

Lots of Dots: Today, I felt like dots..... So, I selected 6 colors by CHINA GLAZE and painted each nail a different color. I used my dotting tool to add the dots and clear topcoat by POSHE

I really LOVED this look and believe me I received so many complements. I had another idea and wanted the lots of dots in the French Tip Style. So , I repainted my nails and painted my toes.
